Do you need assistance with school supplies for your kids? Free School Supplies? If you are in the United States, call your local United Way at 2-1-1. Be sure you are calling from the area you need assistance in, as 2-1-1 is used in all areas and will connect to the appropriate area. They can give you information on where to go and whether you may qualify. For free books and other materials, check local food banks, women and children's shelters, family organizations, Catholic Charities, and even the Department of Human Services. Also, sometimes there are other local organizations that provide these services. Churches and the other organizations listed may have information on some of them. Also, the U.S. military has special programs that assist needy military families.
